Shoulder length bob is one of the never-forgotten haircuts, especially when summer is approaching. Isn't it a bit of a hassle whenever you are working, and suddenly your hair is hindering you from focusing? One of the most common hairstyles of people with short hair is shoulder-length bob braids.

HOW LONG DOES YOUR HAIR REQUIRED FOR BRAIDS?

Can you have braids even with short hair? You do not have to worry about the length of your hair. For as long as you have at least 2 inches of hair, you can do whatever braid pattern you like. It might surprise you but there are specific patterns for shoulder-length bob braids.

WHAT ARE THE BEST SHOULDER-LENGTH BOB BRAIDS FOR YOU?

To make things simple and easier, you can always choose between small finger-size braids or simple types of braids. Such as cornrows, French braids, and even two-strand twists. Is this your first time hearing some of them? Don't be too nervous; these braids are easier than the usual ones you see.

No need to look for someone who can do it for you. You can also do it perfectly if you try it and get accustomed to it.

HOW TO DO SHOULDER-LENGTH BOB BRAIDS

Sometimes having a shoulder-length bob is a pain in the guts, especially if you want to look neat and presentable. Aside from this, it gives you a more detailed hairdo since you can have different kinds of shoulder-bob braids and can add a different spice.

Let me say this one time, shoulder-length bob braids aren't just for ladies but can also be for gentlemen who prefer to have long hair. Also, keep in mind that if you have at least a two-inch length of hair, the more you need to go to the hair professionals to make everything easier.

If you are someone who's not pretty good with doing braids, then this is for you. And if you think you cannot do it alone, have someone to assist you while braiding. The ones we'll be helping you out with doing the two-strand twists and French braid, which are the most popular braids that are easy and beginner-friendly.

Preparation For Shoulder-Length Bob Braids

The only challenge in doing your braids yourself when you have shoulder-length hair is keeping everything under your control while working on your braids. Who has tried working on braids but cannot hold everything at once? Follow these preparations to work on excellent braids.

  • - Small elastic bands
  • - Hairspray or hair gel
  • - Hair comb
  • - Small clips

Everything depends on your hair type and how thick or thin your hair is. It isn't much complicated if you wish to have simple braids. But if you want tiny braids, you can use the small clips and hair comb to separate and create sections of hair for you to work on slowly.

  1. 1. Before working on your shoulder-length bob braids, make sure to keep everything you need in one place. Close and accessible to you when you start doing your braids.
  2. 2. Now, prep your hair by combing it. You'll know that you got rid of the tangles when your finger combed your hair, and it felt smooth without tangles. You’re 15% ready for shoulder-length bob braids.
  3. 3. Using the comb you prepared, create a parallel section of your hair in the middle part and all the way back. Once you are done, grab your clip to hold the sections to keep them in place.
  4. 4. Keep on small sections and keep them in place with hair clips.
  5. 5. Pick one section to work on, unclip it, and comb the hair section to confirm that it's tangle-free. Separate the unclipped section into three equal strands.
  6. 6. Hold the separated strands in your thumb, middle, and index fingers. Start working on your braids by moving the left strand underneath the middle strand. Make sure that you are holding each strand firmly.
  7. 7. Cross the right strand under the middle strand. In order to have neat-looking shoulder-length bob braids, comb your hair every chance you have. Once done, tug gently tug the stands to tighten the braid up.
  8. 8. Once done, repeat #6 and #7 until you reach the tips of your hair. Then secure using the small elastic band. Make sure that you are using small elastic bands to have uniformed and tight shoulder-length bob braids.
  9. 9. Get another hair section and repeat from #5 to #8. And enjoy your effort-worthy shoulder-length bob braids.

CONSIDER THIS BEFORE HAVING SHOULDER-LENGTH BOB BRAIDS

1. It May Not Work The Best With Uneven Shoulder-Length Bob Braids

There are some cases when you want to do braids but have a hard time making a neat one. No, it's not your fault. Sometimes it is because of your haircut, mostly because the ends of your hair were not cut evenly.

2. Make Sure To 101% Dry Your Hair

Another thing where this goes wrong is doing shoulder-length bob braids on wet hair. True, it makes everything easy because it's wet, but you don't know that doing so can damage your hair.

3. Consider You Face Shape

Sure, braids are just braids, and you can always undo them, right? Yes. However, some people are more meticulous and shy people who give their everything for their appearance and hairstyle. If you are one of them, give yourself some time and imagine yourself with braids.

4. Ensure That You Have Everything You Need

Your dream braids might easily crumble if you do not prepare all the things you need prior to doing your braids. You might think that this is an exaggeration, but no. Many people had to stop their braiding sessions from finding the needed stuff.

5. Do Not Ever Tug As You Want to Separate Your Hair To Your Scalp

There will be a lot of gentle tug when doing braids. And there will be times that you might feel lazy and tug here and there. Remember, constant tension for your hair can lead to hair breakage and hair loss. YOU do not want that.

Give it some thought. If you are ready to spend some time and energy doing your own shoulder-length bob braids, then go for it.

CONCLUSION

Braiding a shoulder-length bob is much more challenging than working braids on long hair. But that shouldn't stop you from doing braids, right? It doesn't matter whether you have either wavy, straight, or curly hair. All you need is a lot of patience and room for error. Give yourself some time to familiarize the process of braiding.
