Hair extensions are the great option for changining up your hairstyle. There are many different types of hair extensions. One of the most famous one is keratin hair extensions. They can blend with your natural hair easily. It is always used by a lot of women nowadays. When it comes to keratin bond hair extensions which is considered extremely versatile because it is initially clear and can be easily disguised, you can wear it in most hairstyles of which includes high ponytails. We are sure that you have question about what is the keratin hair extensions, in this article, we will give you the right answers for you.

What Are Keratin Extensions?

Keratin-bond individual hair extensions are tiny strands of actual, unprocessed (or virgin) human hair. Instead of being fastened with tape or glue, keratin extensions have tiny beads of keratin adhesive at the tip of every strand.

Keratin extensions look like your own hair, only with the keratin-based glue dried onto one end. The awesome thing about keratin extensions is that they can be dyed, curled, straightened, and styled using heat - basically everything you might do with your real hair.

The extensions are applied one by one, using either heat or ultrasonic waves to fuse the keratin bond with your own hair. The extensions are laid down in rows so that they will always be carefully covered by another section of hair, even when you’re wearing a ponytail.

Usually, the installation process of keratin bond hair extensions can take up to 2 hours and more.

A small lock of your hair will be taken and individual extensions that were already applied with keratin glue bond will then be placed. Then the hair stylist will use a special heat tool to ensure the best hold to secure the glue in the bond.

Up to 60 – 200 individual pieces are to be installed into your hair depending on the types of your hair which can stay for 3-6 months in approximation.

Once you’ve had your keratin bond hair extensions installed into your hair, do not wash your hair for 48 hours.

Later on, you will only have to wash your hair only every 2-3 days keeping away the shampoo and conditioner from your bonds to protect them from getting damaged. Note that you must not place heated tools on the bonds once it has already been installed because it can destroy the bonds.

To remove your keratin hair extension, you can't do it yourself. Head to the salon. Keratin bonds are dissolved with a solution of either acetone, alcohol, baby oil, or a mixture of two or more.

The stylist uses a wrench-like tool to apply some pressure after soaking the bond, and then the loosened bond is carefully slid off of your own hair. With proper application and timely removal, you shouldn't lose more than a few strands of your own hair throughout the process. Technically, there is no way around shedding some hair in the process, but the more experienced the stylist and the better the application and product, the more this risk can be minimized.

Now it seems that the keratin removal can be a little bit hard and can also have some damages to our real hair. If you want to try on a little less damage hair extension. Just try on another type of hair extension, that is tape-in hair extensions . Its removal will always be safer for your hair.
