To most people, hair is everything. They spend hundreds of dollars buying hair products, from shampoo to treatment. These are the same people who are agitated whenever they're having a bad hair day or bothered if their hair is damaged and frizzy. Are you one of them? Then have your hair porosity tested without going out.
You probably know by now that hair porosity is the natural ability of your hair to absorb and retain moisture. Hair porosity can be induced by using tons of products without knowing if it is the best hair product for your hair. The misconception of many is to use an excessive amount of hair product and add another.
But why is it important? Because knowing your hair porosity gives you a whole different idea of how you can treat and manage your hair in the best way. It gives you an idea of how to treat your hair porosity effectively. It is safe to say that knowing your hair porosity is the best way of knowing your hair naturally.
To better understand and grasp how it works, let's explain. Normally, in order for your hair to stay hydrated and healthy, it absorbs everything it needs to be moisturized, like oils, water, and many others. But in order to absorb hydrating products, it has to pass through the hair cuticle and get to the cortex.
But, how will the hair receive all the things it needs to stay hydrated if the hair cuticle is almost closed? It makes things hard for the moisturizing substance to penetrate the hair cuticle and won't be able to go near the cortex. It makes things more complicated for your hair to stay hydrated and healthy.
It's also almost the same case when your hair cuticle is widely opened. Once your hair cuticle is always open, retaining moisture and staying hydrated can be hard.
One of the most common hair porosity tests is the float test of the hair porosity water test. But do you know that there are six other hair porosity tests to help you know what your porosity hair is? Although the hair porosity water test is one of the easier and fastest tests to know your porosity hair.
Here are the different hair porosity tests you can do at home:
How much does a hair porosity water test cost? The excellent news is hair porosity water test can be done in the comfort of your home. With a hair porosity water test, you don't need too many things. Plus, all the things you need can be seen inside your home.
For the hair porosity water test, you will need a few strands of your hair and a bowl of water temperature water. To ensure that the result you'll get is accurate, make sure to wash your hair with only shampoo and no other products after drying your hair.
Start your hair porosity water test by preparing a clean bowl with room temperature water and drop a few stands of your hair. Observe for at least 3 to 5 minutes and see what happens to the strands of hair you placed on the bowl.
If your hair sinks instantly from top to bottom, your hair is likely to be highly porous. If you saw that your hair slowly sank, it means that you have an average level of porous. If your hair remains floating on the surface after dropping it, your hair might likely be low porous, or you have a low porosity hair.
All you need is your hair and fingers for the nest porosity test. Yes, that is easy. You want to slide your index finger and thumb with a strand of hair in between tips towards your scalp.
Now, you need to feel your hair for this hair porosity test. If you feel something bumpy when doing the slide hair porosity test, you likely have highly porous hair. If you did the hair porosity test without any bump, you have low porous hair, but it is really smooth.
Another easy and fast hair porosity test is the spray bottle hair porosity test. All you need is a spray bottle and your hair. All you need to do is grab the spray bottle, get a little strand of hair, and spray on it.
Now, you need to observe the water droplets on your hair deeply. Suppose you saw that the sprayed water formed into beads on your hair surface, then more likely you have low porous hair. If you saw the sprayed water was easily and instantly absorbed, you have highly porous hair.
The next hair porosity test is the product test—all you have to do is put some in your hair and wait for a while. If the product you apply stays on the surface, you likely have low porous hair. If the hair product is absorbed quickly, you have a high porous hair.
Another one is the hair drying porosity test. All you need to do is dampened your hair and see how fast or slow it naturally dries. If you have high porosity hair, then your hair quickly dries. Of course, the low porosity hair is the opposite, it's slow, and it takes time to dry.
Last but not least is the shine hair porosity test. You'll see that low porosity hair is more lustrous and somehow reflects the light. At the same time, high porosity hair looks much duller. You have average hair porosity if your hair looks normal or moderately shiny.
On more occasions, the hair porosity water test is the go-to of many people. There's no denying that the hair porosity water test is one of the most trusted tests. But if you feel like you need to do another test for the sake of accuracy, then do any of the hair porosity tests above.
