- A rattail comb, a wide-tooth comb or a paddle brush
- Some hair clips
One of the most important factors that impact how your hair with clip-in hair extensions look is the quality of clip-in hair extensions. For a better look, I highly recommend using virgin human hair clip-in hair extensions because the strands can lay flat on your head and they are very smooth. You can buy them at hair salons or buy them online at a much more affordable price.
Make sure that your hair is clean and tangle-free before putting in clip-in hair extensions. In this preparation step, you can wash and condition your hair at first. After drying your hair, you should brush your hair with a wide-tooth comb or a paddle brush to remove the knots.
Step 1: Start at the back of your head at the middle of your ears, use the rattail comb to section off your hair in a line. To get a seamless look, you have to keep the line as straight as possible. The above section should be clipped up with some clips, and the bottom one has to be brushed to lay flat on your head.
Step 2: You should hold the mid-size clip-in extension with two hands and adjust it until it stays at the center of the created line. Then clip the extensions to the bottom section. If the clip-in hair extensions are big and they overlap your ears, I think you should cut your extensions a bit. You can pull your hair downward slightly to check whether it stays secure. Use your comb and brush it one more time.
Step 3: Release the clipped section and recreate another thin line about one inch above the starting one. Don’t put two clip-in hair extensions so close unless it will make the clip-in become more visible. If your natural hair is really thin, you can go higher to get the seamless blend.
Step 4: Finishing this process by installing the bigger clip-in above the second one. Don’t put in this piece too high. The crown of the head is often the hair-thinnest area of our head. If you put in the clip in hair extensions too high near the crown of your head, you may not get the perfect look.
When you’ve finished, you can check your hair extensions again by trying to wear them up with your natural hair and see whether it is too loose. After that, you can brush your hair with clip-in hair extensions one more time with a paddle brush to remove every knot you made when putting clip-in hair extensions in. If the length does not blend naturally, you can also cut or trim it a little bit to get the better result.
Clip-in hair extensions are a very ideal choice for women who want to add length and volume to their hair. With this complete guide on how to install clip-in hair extensions, I’m sure that now you know how to do it in the right way. However, to keep your hair with clip-in hair extensions always in the best condition, you have to put more effort on caring and maintenance.
