When you put on a wig, it is crucial that you wear a wig cap beforehand to secure your hair and make it more comfortable for your head. Putting on a wig cap properly can ensure your natural hair is fully tucked in and be a good foundation for your wig. In this article, we will walk you through the beginner’s guide on how to properly wear a wig cap.

In order to have your wig cap put over your head properly, here are a few items you need to prepare:
Before you put your wig cap on, you have to get your hair clean and dry. Brush the hair to remove tangles. If you have long hair, you can put your hair into a low ponytail or braid to make it less bulky when you put on the wig cap. You can check out how to put your long hair under a wig cap right here.
Hold the wig cap with both hands and spread it out. Make sure to hold it in the right direction to put it on your head. The wig cap might have a label for you to check to see which side is correct.
Place the wig cap on your brow and slide it over your head, making sure it completely covers your natural hair. Pull the wig cap down toward your nape of the neck, ensuring that it sits firmly and pleasantly.
If your wig cap has adjustable straps, tighten or loosen them to get a comfortable fit. To achieve a smooth surface, smooth out any creases or folds in the wig cap.
Check for any stray hairs poking through the wig cap. Tuck them in gently to achieve a clean and glossy appearance. If your hair is exceptionally long or thick, you can bind it using bobby pins.
Now that you have put on your wig cap, you are ready to have your wig on. You can style and adjust your wig to sit comfortably over the wig cap as desired. To keep the wig in place, use the adjustable straps or clips.
